  • Awarded gold medal for performing single-handed, 10,000 laparoscopic sterilisations in the Ernakulam district in 1988 from the district collector. This was an era when laparoscopic sterilisation was not well accepted by the society.

  • Awarded with Lifetime Endoscopy Empowerment Award By Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy (2018) for the contributions for teaching and training gynaecologists in India.

  • Awarded Distinguished Alumni Award from Trivandrum medical college in 2019 for contributions to gynaecological endoscopy.

    Performed over 30,000 advanced laparoscopic procedures.
    Performed the first Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy in Kerala State in 1992.
    First Laparoscopic Microtubal Anastomosis in India 1996.
    Innovated a new surgical techniques of In-bag morcellation for fibroids to avoid dissemination of undiagnosed malignant tissues.
    Made an improvement of the Technique of Suture-less ovarian reconstruction.
    Published a technique of Transvaginal Ultrasonography guided laparoscopic myomectomy for residual / deep-seated myomas.
    Designed uterine manipulator accessory (Fornix bulger cum pneumo-occluder) for total laparoscopic hysterectomy- marketed by Karl Storz, Germany.
    Had the opportunity to perform laparoscopic surgery for eminent personalities across India including union ministers, other luminaries
  • Trained over 1800 doctors from India and abroad in laparoscopic gynaecological surgery and has played a transformational role in popularising minimal access surgery in the field of gynaecology.
    Conducting an intensive one-year fellowship program in gynaecological endoscopy since 2005. Have mentored and trained 38 fellows from across the country. This enables them to practice as an independent Gynaecological endoscopic surgeon. This course includes training in gynaecological ultrasounds, infertility and Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART). They are also involved in research work and publications which are regularly conducted at the institute, and each fellow has at least 2 -3 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
    Delivered 380 Invited Lectures in regional, national and international conferences.
    Performed 240 Live surgery workshops in India and neighbouring countries – Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Dubai, Muscat & Kuwait.
    Invited as faculty for the postgraduate workshop and Live cadaveric dissection during the annual AAGL meeting in Orlando (2016).
    Reviewer for reputed international journals like Human Reproduction, Fertility sterility and European Journal of Obstetrics and gynaecology
    Produced Teaching video CDs & CD-Roms in 1998 on Laparoscopic management of Endometriosis, Myomectomy, Lap hysterectomy, Ectopic pregnancy, Laparoscopic Burch's colposuspension and hysteroscopic surgery which was popular among the budding endoscopic surgeons.
