Doctor Sudha Kurmi of Assam came to Paul’s hospital after suffering 3 long years of painful periods. Heavy blood flow that longed for weeks made her anemic by the time. She had numerous fibroids in her uterus. She was treated at many super specialty hospitals in Guwahati, Coimbatore and other places. Doctors gave her hopes and left her hopeless after putting her through various expensive medical procedures and surgeries. Slowly medicines to stop bleeding failed to work on her body. Depression and frustration lasted for a month. During the days of extreme despair, her colleague and senior surgeon suggested her of Dr. Paul in Kerala. She reached Kochi. Shared all her previous medical reports and anxieties with Dr. Paul.
Dr. Paul didn’t make her feel that her problem is complicated. Being a doctor she was aware of the intensity of fibroids. USG scan reported that multiple myomas distorting the endometrial cavity. Dr. Paul decided to perform a hystero- laparoscopic myomectomy on her. On the day of surgery, she underwent a short pre-op evaluation once again. After that her surgery started in the evening and she was brought out four hours later. 46 myomas were extracted laparoscopically from her uterus. She had a bath next day, took a few steps to walk, ate her favourite food and began a normal life. No bed rest was advised to her. She was discharged from hospital the day after the s urgery. Only a few medicines reminded her that she once was a patient. Newspaper and media celebrated the news with greater importance. A surgery which removed 46 fibroids was the talk of the town for a few days. By the time she reached home, she was completely fit and fine. All the pangs of fibroids had gone within a few days. Her menses returned to its normal and regular cycle after the surgery. Painful periods had vanished completely. Finally she was relieved from the suffering she was undergoing for the last few years. A review hysteroscopy was performed on her after 6 months, showed a mild synechiae with two submucuous myomas which was hysteroscopically removed. At the time of discharge Dr. Paul reminded her that she now can try for pregnancy. By God’s grace, she conceived after 3 months. She shared her happiness with Paul’s Hospital team by email. A princess came to her life on 25th September 2017 without any complication. And like any story ends, they live happily ever after.
